Gracing Gulbarga
Based on her aggregate performance in the first, second and third year BCom studies Serafraz Neville Irani of Gulbarga’s Nutan Vidyalaya Degree College was conferred the fifth rank by the Gulbarga University, according to a report in The Hindu of September 19, 2003. The Gulbarga University covers six north Karnataka districts, including Gulbarga where she stood second, according to a family source. Scoring 78 percent in her first year, 76 percent in her second year and 83 percent in her third year, Irani’s aggregate percent worked out to 79. The three subjects in which she fared the best in her final BCom examination were income tax in which she got 97 percent, Indian economics in which she got 88 percent and business law where she got 80 percent.

The news of the winners which appeared in the local dailies subsequently earned her a felicitation at the Rotary International New Generation District Seminar.
Earlier when she had stood first in the Gulbarga district HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) examination she had been honored by the education minister H. Vishwanath and had won awards from the Zoroastrian Student Teacher Association and the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture. Presently Irani is pursuing her Masters in Business Administration at the Dodappa Appa Institute.
