Popular educationist

For outstanding service in the field of education, Shehernaz Rustom Gandhi, senior lecturer at St Joseph’s College, Allahabad was recently conferred the Mahadevi Kiran Samman. At a function held at Allahabad’s North Central Zone Cultural Centre under the auspices of the Akhil Bhartiya Bhasha Sahitya Sam-melan, UP (Uttar Pradesh) chapter, the award was presented to Gandhi by the UP governor Vishnukant Shastri, notes a press release from the president-trustee of the Allahabad Parsee Zoroastrian An-juman, Capt Homi Dandiwalla.

Gandhi: vocational duties

Thereafter Gandhi was selected for the Vocational Service Merit Award 2002-03 by the Rotary Club of Allahabad in recognition of "meritorious service rendered to society through exemplary proficiency and dedication with which she has performed her vocational duties,” adds the release.
Gandhi is as popular among her students and colleagues as her father, the late Jam-shed Mehta, renowned economist and respected professor whose birth centenary was celebrated by the Allahabad University in December 2001 (see "Eclectic economist,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, February 2002).
