An example for his peers
"Based on his outstanding accomplishments to date and the noble example he has set for his peers and entire community,” the American Biographical Institute’s Board of International Research selected Rusi B. Bhumgara "Man of the Year 2003.” This distinction is "reserved only for men who have significantly enhanced world communities and professions,” notes an introduction to the citation.
"We have the pleasure of reviewing the endeavors of men around the world because of our list of recognized who’s who titles. Singling out a limited number to receive the accolade...has been difficult indeed. Much deliberation was held to choose those whose achievements and dedication toward exemplary goals were among the best we have seen,” noted a letter to Bhumgara from the Institute president J. M. Evans.

Bhumgara: significant contribution
Involved in social work for the last several years, Bhumgara is presently president of the National Sports Club of the Blind, general secretary of the Federation of Zoroastrian Associations for Welfare and Culture (FOZAWAC), and joint honorary secretary of the World Zoroastrian Organisation, India, the Parsee Gymkhana and the All Parsees Sports Foundation. Among the other community institutions with which Bhumgara is connected are the Bombay Parsee Association, Liaison Committee and the Jussawala Sanatorium Trust. He has also lent his services to the Mumbai Cricket Association and the Lions Club of Byculla. Two years ago he was felicitated by the Surat Parsi Panchayat for his consistent efforts to promote sports among the youth, notes a press release.
