"Total pet care in the comfort of a fully airconditioned clinic,” announced the invite to the inauguration of Freya’s Pet Centre on December 9, 2001. The modern veterinary clinic located in Bombay’s Fort area will be headed by Dr Freya Phiroze Javeri. Besides offering the usual services like consultation, treatment, surgery and vaccination, the Centre inaugurated by senior animal practitioner Dr B. N. Doshi will "also tackle hereditary problems in animals like hip dysplasia in dogs by establishing a reliable data bank along the lines of similar registers maintained in other advanced countries,” mentions a press release.

A graduate of the Bombay Veterinary College, Javeri had worked with Dr Rustom Bharucha and Wockhardt Limited before she proceeded to Melbourne, Australia to earn a master’s degree, specializing in diagnostic imaging. A dog lover and a member of the American Dog Writers’ Association, Javeri is a qualified Breeds judge. Her parents Phiroze and Ratty are well known among dog lovers as the driving force behind the Indian National Kennel Club.
The 400 sq ft facility located on the ground floor of Mehta Building on Calicut Street accommodates a section offering the latest in balanced pet food and useful accessories like collars, leashes, dog chews, etc. Open from Mondays to Saturdays from 8.30 to 11.30 in the mornings and 4 to 7.30 in the evenings the veterinarians in attendance at the Centre will be Javeri and her colleague Dr Priti Goswami.
