Thana’s new committee
After a two-year hiatus "it was good to be able to organize activities like visits to the four atash behrams, Dae mah jashan and gahanbar and Khordad Saal function in the current year,” noted the Thana Parsi Zoroastrian Anjuman (TPZA) outgoing president Percy Karani. He was addressing around 80 of the 500 plus members of the Anjuman at the "live” annual general meeting (AGM) on November 13, 2022 at the Cowasji Patel Agiary compound.

A new managing committee took over the reins of the Anjuman. Returning officer Rohinton Patel informed those present that the newly constituted managing committee comprised nine persons: Zarsis Udhnawala, president, Karani, vice president, Khurshid Battiwala, Monaz Kolah, Pouruchisti Meherhomji, Dilshad Mistry, Khurshed Pastakia, Kersasp Patva and Dara Wadia.
Udhnawala has been involved with the Anjuman since 1976 and had been president for "about 10 years.” "Plans are yet to be drawn up for the current term… We have plans for sports activities and visits to fire temples in the immediate future,” he noted. Pastakia is also secretary of the Borivli and Suburban Zoroastrian Association.
The new trustees were welcomed and the outgoing trustees, Rumi Kasad, Manek Patel and Vishtaspa Sethna were presented with bouquets.
Two former vice presidents were felicitated by the managing committee: Bomi Boyce, who had served the Anjuman from 1984 in various capacities, including trustee, joint secretary and vice president till his retirement in 2019 and Kasad, who had served the Anjuman from 1983, except for a short time due to transfer from service, and retired as vice president at the conclusion of the current AGM.
Twelve students who had passed their 10th or 12th board exams, had graduated or completed postgraduation during the year were awarded cash prizes.
"After replying to all queries to the satisfaction of the members…the annual report and accounts were passed with unanimous approval,” noted Karani.
The proceedings had begun with a humbandagi led by Ervad Kersi Sidhwa of the Patel Agiary. The event concluded with snacks sponsored by the TPZA. F. J.
