“Benefits of teaming up”

By Farrokh Jijina · July 21, 2018
"I’m very excited to… perform in Europe. From my experience in London I can say that in spite of being Indian, I was judged on the basis of my talent and not my race and… hopefully it will be the same in Europe,” coloratura soprano Farah Ghadiali told Parsiana on June 30, 2018 just prior to her concert tour of Italy and Austria. (A coloratura soprano is an operatic voice that specializes in music that is distinguished by leaps and trills, according to Wikipedia.)

Duo Farinaldi (soprano Farah Ghadiali and pianist Paolo Rinaldi): over 30 concerts in the UK

Due to perform in July with pianist Paolo Rinaldi, Ghadiali said her music partner "is quite known in the music circles there so it’s an honor to perform with such a wonderful musician and I hope I live up to his expectations.”
Ghadiali and Rinaldi perform as "Duo Farinaldi.” Formed in 2017, Ghadiali explained in a detailed note to Parsiana that the two met while studying for the postgraduate artist degree program at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, London. "We were in competition with each other,” she informed us, adding that "after one concert together… we saw the benefits of teaming up.” Since then, they have performed in two seasons of over 30 concerts in the UK at, among other locations, St James Piccadilly, Southwark Cathedral, St Mathews Westminster in London and St Giles Cathedral in Edinburgh. The July tour will include concerts in Gazoldo, near Milan and Mantova in Lombardy in Italy, and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg.
With a degree in masters of business administration, and work stint as senior marketing manager at the National Centre for the Performing Arts, Ghadiali went to London in September 2014 to study classical music at Trinity Laban, where she completed her postgraduate advanced (artist) program in 2017. Having performed solo at events organized by the Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe and the World Zoroastrian Organisation in the UK, Ghadiali informed us that the duo will perform in four cities in India, including Poona and Bombay, in December.
The soprano won a joint first prize in the all India western classical vocal competition organized by the Neemrana Foundation of Music and the French Embassy in India on April 27 in Delhi. She sang the Aria Of The Fairy from the opera La Cendrillon by Pauline Viardot and Der Holle Rache from Wolfang Mozart’s opera Die Zauberflote.
