Eight-year-old Jayadithya Shetty (pictured) has won a silver medal at the Mental Math International Championship in Dubai on May 12, 2018, informs his mother Navaazessh (née Kasad, now a homemaker, previously a bank employee). "He has a love for numbers and can do mental additions, subtractions, multiplications and divisions at lightning speed,” informs the mother.
"I don’t know why I am so good in this,” the lad told Parsiana on June 11. Also an avid Rubik’s Cuber, the class four student of Sharad Pawar International School in Bombay’s Chandivili is now looking forward to participate in three international events: the Mental Calculation World Cup to be held in Wolfsburg, Germany in September; the Junior Mental Calculation World Cup in Bielefeld, Germany, also in September; and in the Turkey Open Championship after that. Navaazessh acknowledges that the child is "blessed” to be coached by the founder of Genius Kid, Eusibus Noronha and his team of trainers.
"We are a nuclear family and Jayadithya is our only child,” informs Navaazessh. Husband Aavinaash takes care of his family owned restaurant business and also has a food delivery kitchen. "Jayadithya has been brought up in a secular environment. He knows both Ashem Vohu and Yatha Ahu Vairyo as well as the Gayatri Mantra. With doors recently being opened up for kids like Jayadithya to undergo the navjot ceremony (at the Asha Vahishta Zoroastrian Center) in Poona, both Aavinaash and I jointly decided that Jayadithya should be inducted into Zoroastrianism formally. As he is nine, we plan to do this by early next year,” Navaazessh informed Parsiana over email.
