The last few names of those deceased in end November 2016 find mention here as well as those who passed away till December 12.
Based on the information from one south Bombay hospital and families who provide copies of birth certificates there were only three babies born. Deaths at Bombay’s Doongerwadi numbered 43. Heart disease, the major killer, took the lives of 17 Zoroastrians, 12 of whom had crossed their 80 year milestone. Other deaths were attributed to lung disease/pneumonia (seven) and brain disease, old age/general debility and cancer (four each). One patient each died due to liver disease, Alzheimer’s disease, diabetes, gastro-intestinal bleed, septicemia, urinary tract infection and kidney failure. The youngest and eldest to breathe their last were both males — aged 54 and 97 respectively. The mean age at death of Zoroastrians for November 2016 in Bombay was 82 years.
The data on births, marriages and deaths has been compiled from information supplied by various newsletters and anjumans in India and abroad, courts and hospitals. This information is not always complete or consistent: we are unable to carry data from areas where the anjumans do not furnish the particulars; the birth figures for Bombay are supplied by one hospital — births in suburban hospitals and private nursing homes are not included unless individuals send us information together with a copy of the birth certificate. There may be an inadvertent repetition of names in the marriage list when a civil marriage precedes a religious ceremony. The names of the deceased alongwith their ages, addresses and causes of deaths are forwarded to Parsiana by the BPP. The trust however notes that the information has not been verified or authenticated by them. In the break-up of deaths according to illnesses, especially of the elderly, death is often due to a combination of several diseases.
