Upgrading school

By Sherene Vakil · December 7, 2016
The Zilla Parishad Prathamik School in village Jambhale, district Ahmednagar, has been refurbished with modern equipment and education software to impart higher education to students. This project of the Lions Club of Byculla was inaugurated on October 5, 2016 in the presence of members of the Club Hoshang Wania, Capt Percy Master and Shahrukh Marolia, local dignitaries, gram panchayat officials, the principal, teachers, students and their parents, states an email from the Club.
The initiative came from a former student of the school, Subash Gawade. Master raised funds to the tune of Rs 4,50,000 for the project.

This is the only ISO (International Standards Organization) certified school in the district and Master explained to those present the meaning of the certification and the attendant responsibilities. Master was very vocal about the need to educate a girl child for "if you educate a girl, you educate the whole world.” He promised further educational assistance to village schools as that will ensure a better future for the country.
Marolia addressed the gathering in Marathi, stressing that while raising funds for the project there were no budgetary restrictions in supplying whatever was asked for and only the best available equipment was provided. Wania dwelt on the work carried out by Lions International Clubs in India.
