Ladies’ Lions Club is 25
The Lions Club of Bombay (Queensway), a ladies only club, celebrated its silver jubilee charter night on September 8, 2016, coinciding with the centennial year of Lions Club International and the diamond jubilee year of Lionism in India, states an email received from member Zarine Commissariat. Fittingly, the chief guest was Armaity Cooper, the first Parsi lady ever to become district governor. Cooper launched a silver jubilee pin designed by member Firuza Khan at the function.

Since its inception in 1992, the Club has disbursed over two crore rupees on service activities and projects, notes the email. The charter team comprising president Bapsy Daruwala, secretary Roshan Master, treasurer Havovi Gandhi and vice president Commissariat has been nominated to lead the Club for 2016-17.
Medical camps, corrective surgeries for polio patients, thalassemia detection, blood donation, dialysis, eye check-ups and surgeries, cancer detection and care, providing Jaipur foot for amputees, as well as educational aid and scholarships to deserving students continue as regular activities. During the current year the Club will concentrate on safeguarding vision, youth outreach programs, combating hunger, protecting the environment by planting trees and providing clean drinking water as well as health care to senior citizens and differently abled persons, the email lists.
