Maachi for the monarch
To mark the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II (pictured) on April 21, 2016, The Zoroastrian Trust Funds of Europe (ZTFE) organized a maachi ceremony followed by a benedictory prayer in the Setayash Gah at the Zoroastrian Centre. Resident mobed
Ervad Yazad Bhadha invoked "the blessings of Dadar Ahura Mazda for her well-being and to continue the peaceful and prosperous reign of the Queen," other members of the royal family, the House of Windsor, United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, noted a circular by ZTFE president Malcolm Deboo. Last September ZTFE had organized prayers for the Queen when she became the longest reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.
Throughout the day the atash was kept lit in the Setayash Gah and four bois were performed on April 21 as also on April 22 when the association celebrated the Adar mah, Adar roz parav. A special jashan was organized to coincide with the Adar parav, followed by a humbandagi, maachi and dinner, conveyed Deboo.
A celebratory meal on both the days was sponsored by Roshan, Malcolm and Freddy Deboo in the Zartoshty Brothers Hall but the ZTFE was distributing meal coupons against a token donation to bolster the ZTFE Mobed Fund.
