“The Zoroastrians of...”
I read with great interest Khursheed E. Eduljee’s article "The Zoroastrians of Zanzibar” (Parsiana, March 7, 2016).
I had often been told by my grandmother how the Adenwallas dominated trade in Aden, Zanzibar and Mombasa. My great-grandfather, Pestonji Dinshaw, was Cowasji’s younger brother. They fell out and my great-grandfather tried to start a rival firm in Zanzibar. He failed and died there of a heart attack.
I wonder if Eduljee, who knows so much about the family, could throw some light on Pestonji Dinshaw Adenwalla’s last days in Zanzibar and whether he is buried in the Parsi cemetery there? I was only seven years old when I heard all these stories from my grandmother.
