Godrej’s new global HQ
The Godrej group’s new global head quarters — Godrej One — houses about 2,000 employees of different group entities that were previously scattered in separate locations. These include Godrej Industries Limited and Associated Companies (GILAC) including Godrej Properties, Godrej Agrovet, Godrej Industries, Godrej Consumer Products, Godrej Chemicals, Nature’s Basket and the group corporate center. The building has a total area of 750,000 sq ft, of which a third will be for the group; the remainder will be leased to external entities, according to a report in The Economic Times (ET) dated October 29, 2015.

Commenting that Godrej One is essentially about reimagining work spaces across the globe which are open and collaborative, Sumit Mitra, head of group human resources and corporate services at Godrej Industries was quoted in the ET report as saying, "all Godrej structures will now be similar in design to Godrej One and seek to operate under a single roof as far as possible…”
Godrej One is the first part of the mixed-use development named The Trees that Godrej Properties has been planning for several years. Pirojsha Godrej, managing director and chief operating officer of Godrej Properties, was quoted in the ET report that the group will be launching subsequent phases in the coming months. The Trees is reported to be one of the largest real estate developments in Bombay. According to Godrej this "is a small (approximately 35 acre) part of our group’s overall landholding in Vikhroli and should be completed in the next five years.” He mentioned that the development will be largely self-funded.
The website of the company states that Godrej One "aspires to be among the most sustainable in the world” and adds that features appear throughout the master plan and building design "to ensure that energy requirements are minimized and water is conserved.” The lead architects for The Trees as well as Godrej One, Pelli Clarke Pelli, have also designed other iconic structures like the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur, International Finance Center 2 in Hong Kong, and Bloomberg headquarters in New York, elaborates their website.
