Dogmas of the past

I was listening to "Lincoln Portrait,” a classical orchestral work by American composer Aaron Copland the other day for the umpteenth time, when I heard the narrator recite Lincoln’s famous words from his annual message to Congress in 1862:
"The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. We must disenthrall ourselves. And then we shall save our country.”
I chuckled to myself imagining: If there was a Parsi Lincoln among us today, and if he had spoken the above words at some World Zoroastrian Congress, changing "dogmas” into "dakhmas,” and "country” into "community,” what might have happened? JAMSHED MODI
