Dastur’s candidature
"As a chartered accountant I work with many trusts across the country. Some of this work has been for the (Bombay Parsi) Punchayet (BPP), so I am already familiar with its working,” wrote Xerxes Dastur while announcing his candidature for the BPP trusteeship elections. In "Why I am Contesting the Punchayet Election,” the partner in V. S. Dastur and Company Chartered Accountants, established by his father Vispi, Xerxes writes that he was nurtured in the belief that "the drive of young qualified persons — combined with the wisdom of elders — is a magic formula to achieve great heights.”
Xerxes Dastur: familiar with BPP’s working
"As a qualified person with vast experience in leading and in being part of teams and building organizations I have a responsibility towards the community,” he notes. Having served as vice chairman and treasurer of the Bombay Chapter of the World Zarathushti Chamber of Commerce, chairman of the Ripon Club’s managing committee and member of the advisory committee of Xtremely Young Zoroastrians, Dastur says he has "the ability to carry everyone along.”
Among the challenges that he plans to tackle as a trustee are addressing the medical concerns of an ageing community, encouraging the youth to become better qualified and ensuring better fiscal and administrative management at the BPP.
