“The new newscasters”
In her letter "The new newscasters” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, June 21, 2015) Roda Hakim writes, with reference to the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) trusteeship elections, "Ahura Mazda’s intervention will be necessary to work a miracle and get honest, caring men and women voted to office, instead of the orthodox jokers who have made a laughing stock of our community globally… Unfortunately in India there are no names in the young generation to talk about: we still bask in the glory of the Tatas, Godrejs and Wadias…The Shroffs and a couple of other families are an exception to the rule as are the Parsis of Hong Kong.”
The same holds true here in the USA.
The Maharashtra government had amended the Criminal Procedure Code so that the police cannot take action against a legislator, not even start any investigation, without the Assembly Speaker’s consent. With rules such as these, we are setting a bad example. The problem is not just with the BPP; it is indigenous to Bombay.
