Course on Avestan

A course, "An Introduction to the Avestan Language,” will be offered free of cost by the Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI), in Poona jointly with SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies) of the University of London, and supported by UNESCO Parzor. This initiative has been made possible through a generous donation from France, notes a circular received by Parsiana.

Prof Almut Hintze: expert on ancient language

The course is designed to provide students with a clear understanding of the basic principles of the Avestan language to enable them to translate simple texts in the ancient language of Zoroastrianism. To be held at the BORI from July 6 to 17, 2015, the course will be conducted by Almut Hintze, Zartoshty Brothers Professor of Zoroastrianism at SOAS.
