Impacting immigration
Terming the UK Conservative Party’s majority win in the May parliamentary elections as "extremely good news,” Lord Karan Bilimoria, a member of the House of Lords, founder of Cobra Beer and chancellor of the University of Birmingham said, "I would hope that the Conservatives would take a view towards immigration which encourages students and academics, and a highly skilled foreign workforce at every level — chefs at Indian restaurants, scientists, engineers, IT (information technology) professionals and people working in the financial sector in the city of London — whilst still taking a tough stance on illegal immigration by continuing to clamp down on fake higher education colleges and introducing effective exit checks on the UK’s borders.”
Lord Karan Bilimoria: review policies
Bilimoria admitted that he had "always been critical of the Conservatives’ immigration policies which I think are damaging to universities and businesses. It has now been announced that Theresa May will continue as home secretary. I find this very disappointing as she has been adamant in her support of economically damaging immigration rhetoric.”
