ZC convocation

Iranian scholar Prof Cyrus Farhomand from Sweden, who had submitted a thesis on "The Avestan World View,” was conferred a doctor of philosophy degree while other candidates from Bombay, Poona and Delhi were honored, mentioned Dr Meher Master-Moos, president of Zoroastrian College (ZC), reporting on their mid-year convocation. This event was organized by the All India Shah Behram Baug Society on June 8, 2014 at the Russian Centre for Science and Culture in Bombay.
Also present, along with Master-Moos were Dara Rupa, S. G. Bhat, Mangala Chavan, Katy Singporewalla, Ervad Adiba Gowadia, Usha Nair, Khurshid Cooper and Minoo Jokhi, notes the write-up. Consuls and officials from Russia and Iran were among the distinguished guests.
The audience was entertained with songs and scenes from old Hindi films, a video of the ballet Swan Lake, an exhibition of pictures of the magnificent palaces of Russia which were on view.
Master-Moos also sent Parsiana a copy of her book on astronomy titled The Terrace Observatory at Zoroastrian College which deals with the two centres of the solar system as indicated in the Gathas; elliptical orbit of planets around these two centres as observed at the Terrace Observatory; and the date of Zarathushtra as ascertained through astronomy with reference to Avestan texts.
