Dhun dis-lodged

By Sherene Vakil · July 21, 2014
"There is no logic to flattening a perfectly solid, sound and splendid structure. It has left the locality bereft of beauty and the name ‘Dhun Lodge’ which perfectly encapsulated the cosmopolitan naming practices of the city,” laments Simin Patel on her blog bombaywalla.org

Dhun Lodge: then (above) and now

"Notice how the developers have removed the year 1906 (on top of the building) and the name of the structure at the entrance,” she states about the ground plus two-floor structure situated across the road from Bhatia Hospital at Tardeo.
At one time Patel’s favorite building, Dhun Lodge is now "destroyed and diminished to a shell of its former self,” she writes. Patel was listed by Mid Day among the 35 citizens of Bombay under 35 "who are making the world sit up and take notice… they are all set to go to the top.”
