“Status quo” extended

The Charity Commissioner (CC) V. K. Jadhav on January 10, 2014 extended the "status quo regarding properties” of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) till the next hearing of January 16, 2014.
A "modification” application by the lawyer of the four BPP trustees, Arnavaz Mistry, Jimmy Mistry, Khojeste Mistree and Yazdi Desai to allot "the leave and license” flats to young newlyweds who would otherwise "have to stay apart,” was turned down by the CC.
In his written reply opposing the modification Mehta had contended that "power will be centralized in the hands of the applicants as far as allotment of housing accommodation is concerned bypassing the three other trustees.” He alleged "The applicants… only want to favor their friends and associates… (it) is hence a bias application as there are several items on the agenda where others are similarly affected but whose case is not being solicited by them.”
The four trustees had moved the CC to suspend/dismiss Mehta and bar him from alienating any trust property on the grounds that an offence has been registered against Mehta before the EOW. The EOW however dismissed the complaint claiming "case is not made out for registration of an F.I.R. (First Information Report).” The four had filed a complaint with the EOW alleging Mehta has misappropriated funds, cheated and committed criminal breach of trust in the transfer of premises in Dady House which is owned by the BPP and located in Bora Bazar.
BPP trustees Armaity Tirandaz and Muncherji Cama did not join in the complaint against Mehta before the CC or the EOW.
