Minty method
It is a scented product but the strength of the scent repels, not attracts. "The scent of mint is repulsive to rodents but pleasant to humans. The Mint-X garbage bags are rats, rodents and cockroaches repellent. Once you start using these bags the scent will drive away these pests from your property and make your other pest control methods more effective and reduce your cost of pest control,” states Kerman Minbatiwalla, operations manager, ZorGan India, a division of Amersey Realtors Private Limited, sole distributor and importer of Mint-X bags in India. Since the smell of mint is extremely irritating to rodents, it keeps rats from tearing into the trash bag and scattering refuse all around.

Patented and made in the US, the bags are EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) approved and are widely used all over USA and Europe by the food industry, hotels, property maintenance companies, railway and shipping companies as well as individual households, he adds. "EPA registration is our badge of honor as it involves a long and challenging process that requires rigorous testing on both the safety and efficacy of the product. The US EPA has classified Mint-X garbage bags as a ‘biopesticide’ (which targets specific pests but generally poses little or no risk to humans or the environment),” declares their website zorganindia.com In India ZorGan’s customers include the Taj Group of Hotels, large temples, clubs, etc. The bags are made from 85 percent recycled material, with mint fragrance added during the manufacturing process. "We are going to be making these bags in India using the resin from USA. They can also be made to sizes specified by the customer,” states Minbatiwalla whose wife Shalini (née Amersey) is director on the board.
ZorGan India is also the sole distributor for yard guard rats, rodents and small animals repeller. "This is a waterproof devise which can be installed indoors and outdoors. Made in the US with the latest American ultrasound technology, it is silent and completely safe for humans. These units are specially made for us in 220 volts to suit our Indian voltage,” Minbatiwalla notes. The electronic transmission of high frequency sound (well above 20 KHz frequency) is harmless for people but audible and painful to rats, prompting them to scurry away from the area covered by the ultrasound.
