Dorabji Bahadurji
I wonder if any of your readers could help me with information (professional and personal) about Dorabji Nasarwanji Bahadurji (1868-1956). He was the younger brother of the famous Dr K. N. Bahadurji (KNB) who fought the British dominated Indian Medical Service for due professional recognition of Indian medical graduates by appointing them as full professors at the Grant Medical College.
Dr KNB was to have married Dr Manak Turkhud, daughter of a famous Maharashtrian medical and social reformist family of 19th century Bombay. However, his untimely death during the plague in 1898 led his brother Dorabji to marry her. Dorabji and his wife became followers of Mahatma Gandhi. He went on to become the first Indian Advocate General of Bombay. He and his wife suffered unspeakable tragedies when their two very young sons died within four days of each other in 1912.
Dorabji was also a Parsi who rebelled against the Bombay Parsi Punchayet, being the first to ask for cremation.
I am writing a historical paper on the Bahadurji and the Turkhud families and hence the request for information, and if possible, photographs.
