Our identity

Our identity
Dagli-pugree, ijar, kor ni sari, our pride and identity used to be/ Head covered with topi, mathabanu every Parsi, one used to see/ Lost this we; as we mingled with the multitude gradually, slowly/ Our sudreh kusti many are now discarding, for fashion lowly.
Our looks typical, still remain our distinct identity/ But interfaith marriages will threaten this identity./ The new bhel-puri generation will look different too./ Maybe, there will be many Parsis not; about this to rue.
Generation Next may not have "wala,” Dastur, etc as surnames/ Parsi women’s non-Parsi children will carry fancy names/ Sweet sounding Persian names, none will be; found only in text/ Slowly but certainly after wearing off our identity; what next?
