ZYNG calendar 2013
Twelve luscious lovelies are draped over the pages of the current year’s ZYNG (Zoroastrian Youth for the Next Generation) calendar. The photo shoot was conducted at the Poonawalla Stud Farm in Poona, courtesy Dr Cyrus S. Poonawalla, and many of the models are decked in equestrian themed gear — boots, fringed leather tassels, posing with dishy thoroughbreds, et al — to complement the locale. Clad in bikinis, minis, cleavage revealing tops and diaphanous gowns, they are likely to set temperatures soaring all year through.
The calendar was launched at a grand function at Rustom Baug on ZYNG’s third anniversary, December 14, 2012.
"With almost 4,000 members, ZYNG continues to storm ahead as the face of the youth for our community,” reads the section of the calendar by the 20-member ZYNG committee, the youth wing of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP). "Having recently completed three years, there seems to be no slowing down… ZYNG has successfully conducted and supported over 50 events since its inception along with entertaining events for the youth… (with) a major emphasis on serving the needs of the community through its various collection and distribution drives… The calendar captures the exciting spirit and energy of ZYNG that has captivated so many young people already. We give you a glimpse of the exotic beauties our community possesses.”
Viewers may therefore feast their eyes on Ayesha Billimoria, Parinaz Sethna, Spenta Havewala, Anahita Dotiwalla, Ellen Modi, Karishma Pithawala, Avan Sethna, Pashmina Dadabhoy, Vahishta Zandbaf, Farah Titina, Scherezade Contractor and Sherry Shroff. And though oodles of skin is visible, and one fails to spy the sudreh-kusti anywhere, there is no denying the aesthetic appeal. Each calendar page displays the dates on a mere five cm vertical strip to the right, with small digits, the mahs/rozs in teeny type faces. An entire page is devoted to explanations for "Who are the Zoroastrians?” the months/days and their meanings, which ones are auspicious or have special significance in one’s daily life (Succeed? Let Behram Roj help you), and a brief note on the three Zoroastrian calendars.
The Spenta Multimedia designed calendar acknowledges the help of Daena Sethna for fashion styling, Fareez Vasania and Farzan Randelia for photography, Dilshad Ukaji for hair and make-up and Chandini Batra as fashion assistant. Featuring among the galaxy of fashion designers are Delna Poonawalla, Farah and Firdos, as well as stores like Vanilla Moon and Zara. The primary sponsor being Club7 Holidays, a subsidiary of CentrumDirect Limited, half a page lists the "memorable travel experiences” offered by them.
The glossy art paper calendar is available in two sizes with the large one priced at Rs 300 and the smaller at Rs 200. It is available from the office of the BPP, Kerawalla Stores, Pearl Tirandaz (9820158874), Bayzan Mistry (9821349283), Rumi Marawalla (9820561418), Hoshaang Gotla (9820683398) and Ruzbeh Hansotia (9833731319).
