Ahmedabad back in FPZAI

The Ahmedabad Parsi Panchayat (APP) will once again be participating in the Federation of the Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India (FPZAI) sessions starting with the January 26 and 27, 2013 executive council and annual general meeting in Bombay. The APP had withdrawn their membership prerogatives as they were opposed to the presence at the meetings of former FPZAI vice president and former president of the APP Areez Khambatta. Following the APP elections last October the new board of trustees decided to participate in the FPZAI.
Kerfegar Antia of Hyderabad and Secunderabad has resigned from his post as FPZAI south zone vice president. Following the passing of certain resolutions at the Federation that were reportedly not put before the Secunderabad and Hyderabad anjuman for approval, the Anjuman withdrew from active participation in the FPZAI. At the last Federation meeting Antia did not represent the twin cities and did not specify the anjuman he purported to represent in the attendance register.
The executive council meeting of the FPZAI was initially scheduled for Jabalpur in November but as that Madhya Pradesh city is viewed as a World Alliance of Parsi Irani Zarthoshtis (WAPIZ) bastion, the venue was overruled. The next venue was Delhi but they too were disinclined to host the meeting. Poona was next on the list but a dispute over the drafting of the last minutes meant the notice, agenda, minutes, etc could not be issued in time for the meeting to be held in December. The dispute referred to in the minutes pertained to the membership of six anjumans. WAPIZ opposed the membership applications while Bombay Parsi Punchayet (BPP) chairman Dinshaw Mehta ruled their membership was valid.
