Subscribers’ comments

Subscribers offer their views on Parsiana’s strengths and weaknesses on the subscription renewal form returned to us. With their consent we publish their comments so that their thoughts may be known to a wider readership. Unless another name is affixed to the remarks, Parsiana assumes they are written by the subscriber whose name appears on the form.

Parsiana’s strengths: Zero. Shortcomings: Stupidity of trying to fool around with the religion and its tenets and customs. Stop your gossip!

AIR MARSHAL A. R. GHANDHI
Poona

Parsiana gives very good coverage of Parsi/Irani Zarthoshtis in India and abroad. There are balanced views even on so-called controversial issues. However, even though there are lots of photographs, the way the captions are given, it becomes difficult to identify the persons.
SHIRAZ GIMI
Nagpur

Good unbiased reporting. Please focus on Zoroastrian history also.
A. N. KANGA
Poona

Your strengths are your ability to reach out to the community and the courage to take up the most controversial of issues, even displeasing the powers-that-be.
G. M. KATHAWALA

You provide exposure to the thoughts and beliefs of various factions of our community while at the same time very gently leading us to the practical and urgent need for change. Parsiana is the only outlet for small voices like mine. What shortcomings?
MEHROO S. KHAREGAT

Newsy for Zoroastrians. Shortcomings: Nil
SORAB P. MAJOO

Very prompt, every alternate week now. The articles are also on overseas organizations which makes it interesting for all local subscribers.
FURDOON K. MEHTA

Encouraging our younger generation by recognizing more outstanding professionals and businessmen of our community. There is a need for reforms. Only publications like your journal can promote reforms by criticizing orthodoxy. But you place too much stress on Parsis who passed away many years ago.
Dr F. D. MIRZA
Bombay

Parsiana gives a concise report on happenings in the Zoroastrian community.
PARIZAD DARIUS NARIMAN

I have been a subscriber to Parsiana since its inception and I enjoy reading it. From the comments of readers about the strengths and shortcomings which appear in the magazine from time to time, and from your growing number of readers in India and abroad, I feel that coverage in Parsiana of events and facts about the Parsi and Irani Zoroastrians from all over the world is noteworthy.
ZAL NOWSHERWANJI
Bombay

There is coverage of Parsi Zoroastrian activities globally, enlightening readers of developments in the community and also apprising them of Zoroastrian enterprises. Good presentations. There is a tilt toward reformists.
NOSHIR G. PAGHDIWALLA

Parsiana has international coverage and liberal views, giving weightage to all shades of opinions.
KEKI N. PARDIWALLA

SAM DARABSHAH PATEL

Parsiana’s strength is aapru Parsipanu! Kudos to your team. All my best, always. Shortcomings: Pardon me, but reading an article on say page four and then being asked to go to say page 33 is editorial rubbish — especially when you have the rest of page four for another article!
SILLOO PATEL
Bombay
Well written. Keep up the good work. Glad you are not toeing the orthodox line.
NESS P. PESIKAKA
Madras

Your strengths are global coverage of the community activities as well as personal achievers. Letters to the editor are interesting. We preserve all copies as they carry memories of people we know. We admire the editor and his staff for their efforts.
Dr F. P. SOONAWALLA
Bombay

Dr Soonawalla passed away on July 24, 2012. — Editors

A community magazine publishing diverse and variant points of view with a commendable level head (despite provocation). And a completely excellent editorial that motivates you to sit up and take note! Most community divergent views stem from religious (mis)understanding. Surely days of not understanding/interpreting the Gathas, Vendidad and other scriptures are long, long gone. Why fight shy of a serialized article on religious scriptures? Let it kick up a lively discussion. Why not?
Capt S. SUNAWALA
Bangalore

Strengths: Covers Parsi population all over the world. Shortcomings: Should remain neutral — neither reformist nor orthodox.
SOLI J. UNWALLA
Ahmedabad

The articles are fantastic. Please keep it up. Would like to read more on past glories.

ERATTA
In the item "Rotary’s record,” (Events and Personalities, Parsiana, July 21, 2012), the BCCI mentioned refers to the Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and not to Board of Control for Cricket in India. Parsiana regrets the error.
