Sasha Vesu-vala: engineering success
Despite having a perfect SAT score, Vesuvala’s desire to return to her roots led her to pursue further studies in India where she qualified in engineering, becoming one of the few engineers in her family. In 2007 she joined Fidelity Business, where she was selected to go to Boston for a three-month work stint, the most junior person ever from her business unit to be selected for an onsite visit, notes the e-mail. Interested in travel, Vesuvala has visited 14 countries.
When she joined IIM (Indian Institute of Management) Bangalore in June 2009, Vesuvala was ranked among the top 20 students admitted that year. She was nominated for two prestigious scholarships — the Aditya Birla Scholarship and the OP Jindal Engineering Scholarship — and won the former, making her one of the top 10 students admitted across various IIM campuses in India that year. During this period she interned at McKinsey and Company, spending her internship in Bhutan where she worked on a project to improve the country’s socioeconomic development. After completing the internship Vesuvala was given a pre-placement offer to join the firm after her graduation, which she accepted, the e-mail states.
Vesuvala was also elected to the placement committee at IIM Bangalore, which provided her with the opportunity to liaise with executives from over 150 leading companies in India and abroad, the e-mail notes.
