Jail and bail

In the summer of their incarceration in Delhi’s Tihar Jail a number of corporate czars discovered that life behind bars is harsh, with no frills "but not really intolerable,” as noted an article in the India Today issue of December 12, 2011 a copy of which was sent to Parsiana by reader Rashid G. Khosravi. These under trials included prominent industrialists and politicians involved in the 2G spectrum scam, many of whom are now out on bail.

Kobad Ghandy: intellectual value

The high point of life in Tihar for many of the under trials was meeting Maoist ideolog Kobad Ghandy. They often bumped into him in the common room, in canteen queues or within the precincts of jail number three, where Ghandy has been lodged since September 2009. Though the scam tainted captains of industry did not "interact much with the other prisoners” they admittedly discovered intellectual value in Ghandy, one of the country’s most wanted rebels. "We learnt a lot from him,” they told India Today.
