Helicopter hearse?

Since 200 white-backed and long-billed vultures have been found recently in the Singur Plateau in the Nilgiris region of western Tamil Nadu, the area near Wayanad in Kerala and Bandipur in Karnataka (see "Vulnerable vultures,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, December 7, 2011), the Borivli and Suburban Zoroastrian Association (BASZA) has, in an item published in the BASZA Newsletter, Issue 2/2011-12 mentioned that "maybe a solution to the huge problem of dakhmenashini is in sight.”
The Association envisions the setting up of a well-appointed dakhma in that region and arranging for the dead from at least western India to be "rapid-transported” there. "The Bombay Parsi Punchayet could even consider buying a small plane or helicopter to be used as hearse,” the Newsletter suggests, adding: "To preserve dakhmenashini, we have to do what it takes and think out of the box!”
