Countering corruption

The judicial system of the country has improved considerably since Justice Sarosh H. Kapadia took charge as Chief Justice of India (CJI). Within a year he has taken important decisions necessary to tackle corruption, mismanagement and indiscipline in the country.
The popular decision to remove P. J. Thomas from the Chief Vigilance Commissioner’s post was important because corrupt administrators and political leaders have tarnished India’s image. Another decision was in regard to the 2G spectrum scam. The court intervened in the matter and sent A. Raja, Kanimozhi, government officers and corporate honchos to jail. This has sent out the message that corruption cannot be tolerated at all.
