Statue in Ratnagiri Fort

In my book on Parsi Statues on page 297 there is mention of a statue of Pallonji Shapoorji Contractor in Ratnagiri Fort which was inaugurated on May 16, 1926 by A. N. Surve.

I am curious to find out who Pallonji Shapoorji Contractor was. Why was his statue installed in Ratnagiri Fort? Who was A. N. Surve? Could someone send me a photograph of this statue?

I presume the Fort would be a protected monument under the Archaeological Survey of India. Could anyone guide me whom I should write to and the e-mail address of the contact?
