“Insulting the community”
I tend to agree with the observations of Kerfegar B. Antia ("Insulting the community,” Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, July 7, 2010). I too have been reading Parsiana over many years and have been delighted with your articles and features on the community’s achievements and our glorious history. Sadly, it is not the same any more. At times your editorials and the letters carried in Readers’ Forum lack sensitivity. You invariably publish letters from regulars like Behram Aga and B. T. Dastur. Granted, each of us is entitled to our own opinion, but does it need to be expressed in impolite, malicious and offensive language? I draw particular attention to the manner in which our high priests are constantly made objects of ridicule and derision. Aga has described them as "the six Parsi Popes.” Have we lost all sense of dignity and propriety?
If Aga and Dastur have so much aggression and passion in themselves, why do they not channelize the same toward worthy causes, e.g. do something constructive for our youth, our poor, needy and homeless brethren? Pray do not waste your obviously abundant energies on religion and people bashing. I also feel the editors need to display restraint and balance in what they publish — remember there are many of us readers who do want to read well written features which uplift our pride and Parsipanu, so please spare us from the naysayers and doomsday prophets.
