Meritorious Modi

A lifetime achievement award for services rendered to the Indian Red Cross Society Maharashtra state branch was presented to Homai Modi by the then governor of the state S. C. Jamir in Bombay on August 27, 2009. Modi is member of the national managing body of the Red Cross in New Delhi, as also on its executive committee. In addition, she serves as honorary secretary of the Indian Red Cross Society Maharashtra state branch and the Bombay city branch, mentions a write-up received by Parsiana from the social worker.
Modi’s work has been recognized by the Indian International Friendship Society in the form of a Rashtriya Gaurav Award certificate for "meritorious services, outstanding performance and remarkable role” by Dr Bhishma Narain Singh, former governor of Assam and Tamil Nadu dated October 10, 2009. The trophy, which was damaged in transit, reads "Presented for outstanding services, achievements and contributions” and the award was judged in the category of social work done from January to October 2009, states the write-up.

A woman of substance, Modi’s resume notes that she is trustee and joint honorary secretary of The K. R. Cama Oriental Institute; managing committee member and honorary secretary of the Bel-Air TB and HIV Sanatorium and Hospital and the Ayurveda and Naturopathy Centre in Panchgani; the chancellor’s nominee on the senate of the University of Bombay from 1998-2005; general secretary of the national committee for Dr Dadabhai Naoroji parliamentary centenary celebrations; honorary secretary of the 4th and 5th World Zoroastrian Congresses held in Bombay in 1985 and 1990 respectively; and appointed co-president, Council of World Religions for Peace, New York in August 2006, among other achievements. She has also earned an enviable cache of awards for her work in these diverse fields.
