Calcutta committee
The new committee of the Parsi Zoroastrian Association (PZA) in Calcutta is headed by Phiroze D. Mogrelia, president, with Bachoo T. Parakh and Fali B. Captain as vice presidents. Joint honorary secretaries are Shirin B. Modi and Burjor D. Surti while Jemi S. Bilimoria will serve as honorary treasurer. Bapsi A. Rabadi, Nargis P. Master, Burjor F. Modi, Homi C. Gotla, Darayas J. Bapooji and Viraf H. Langrana are committee members. Katy S. Sabawalla and Darius H. Nusserwanji have been co-opted to the committee. Jehangir F. Dastoor is honorary auditor. The PZA held its annual general meeting at the Atash Adaran Hall on the morning of September 20, 2010 at which office bearers for 2009-2010 were elected, mentions Calcutta Gavashni in its July-September 2009 edition.
In the children’s program that followed, titled "Rectification of Sonnets on Prophet Zarathushtra,” poems were selected from famed Parsi poet Ardeshir F. Khabardar’s work, Zarathushtra — The First Prophet of the World. Speaking on these sonnets at the PZA function were Kaivan Mogrelia, Keki Fatakia, Zamyad Meherji, Sohrab Balsara, Riyan and Raizan Vatcha, Faredoon Gotla, Delna Wadia, Kaizeen Confectioner, Parinaz Bilimoria, Jahan and Arvaan Mogrelia. The enjoyable program was conceived, prepared and directed by Shirin Modi and ably conducted by Fatakia and Kaivan Mogrelia. Rhoda Mogrelia presented token cash prizes to all participants on behalf of PZA.
Noshir Tankariwala, senior trustee of the Late Ervad D. B. Mehta Atash Adaran lauded the efforts of the PZA and the participating youngsters. Phiroze Mogrelia gave a vote of thanks. This was followed by lunch catered by Ervad Soli Kotwal and hosted by the trustees of the Atash Adaran, Calcutta Gavashni notes.
