The new vada dastur
The Bhagarsath Anjuman has elected Ervad Kaikhushroo Navroze Dastoor as the 17th Dastur Meherjirana following the death of his predecessor Dastur Meherji Dastur Kekobad on January 23, 2010. Immediately after the uthamna ceremony of the latter in Navsari, a procession of senior priests led by Dastur (Dr) Firoze M. Kotwal accompanied Dastoor to the Vadi Daremeher, the second oldest fire in India after the Iranshah and the sanctum of the Bhagarsath Anjuman where the new incumbent accepted the gaddi, as per information received over the e-mail from Ervad Marzban J. Hathiram.

Dastur Meherjirana, K. N. Dastoor
The 83-year-old Dastoor, a direct descendant of the original Dastur Meherjirana, is better known as K. N. Dastoor or KND. He served for many years at a nationalized bank rising to become general manager and chief vigilance officer. Author of two books on banking law, he has post retirement practiced law privately. An ardent advocate of Ilm-e-Khshnoom, Dastoor has helped spread this knowledge through talks, seminars and camps in India and all over the world. For many years he published the magazine Parsi Pukar, recently merging it with Dini Avaz, and now reborn as Parsi Avaz. A powerful speaker, he has motivated hundreds of Parsis to return to their faith and roots, Hathiram notes.
