Veteran CAs on the rolls

Reader Rashid S. Medora of Ahmedabad has sent to Parsiana a copy of some pages from The Chartered Accountant, journal of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), of July 2009, brought to his attention by his chartered accountant (CA) friend Anil R. Shah. On the occasion of its diamond jubilee the ICAI contacted the surviving veteran members who had joined the Institute at its inception on July 1, 1949 and who are still registered with it. Among the 72 veteran CAs listed in the journal are eight Parsis, Medora points out.
Four of them are residents of Bombay, with one each in Calcutta, New Delhi, Great Britain and Singapore. Born in 1916, Minoo J. Gyara of Bombay is the seniormost in age, while Eruch Jehangir Bapasola, also from Bombay and born in 1925, is the youngest. The other two from the metropolis are 1919 born Jehangir Jeejeebhoy Mistry and Phiroze Rustomji Wadia (1921). Yazed Homi Tata (1925) hails from New Delhi, Khurshed Dustoor (1924) from Calcutta, Russi Naveroji Cooper (1919) lives in Great Britain and Dr Rustom Cavasjee Cooper (1922) is based in Singapore. The last mentioned became president of the ICAI in 1963-64, the magazine records.
All these veteran members have "rendered great services to the accountancy profession… We cannot deny their invaluable contribution… In order to acknowledge and recognize their efforts, (we) have decided to publish the details of those who are with the Institute” during the diamond jubilee celebrations, the magazine notes.
