Zoroastrian studies barred

Teaching of Zoroastrian religious subjects to Zoroastrian students of Anooshiravan Girls High School in Tehran was refused by the principal of the School, reported the FEZANA Journal of Summer 2009. The Zoroastrian teacher attending the School was told by the principal that there were not sufficient Zoroastrian students and hence these classes could be conducted on weekends.
The information available on the web mentioned that the Anooshiravan Girls High School had been founded by a Parsi Zoroastrian and had always been under the ownership and management of the Zoroastrian Anjoman in Tehran until recently when non-Zoroastrians are managing and controlling it through the ministry of education.
As conveyed in the Journal, "The world Zarathushti community hopes that this decision is revoked and the young Zarathushti girls in Tehran can continue to have their religious classes held in the School as it has been done for decades in the past…Even if there is only one Zarathushti student registered in that school, she has all the rights to have her religious studies done in the School at the designated time.”
