Zoroastrians Abroad
12th NAZYC
Exciting workshops featuring youth speakers, entertainment, dinner, dancing, events and a day trip to San Francisco are on the cards for participants at the 12th North American Zoroastrian Youth Congress being organized by the Zoroastrian Youth of North America (ZYNA) in association with FEZANA (Federation of Zoroastrian Associations of North America) in Fremont, California, July 1-5, 2009.
While American Airlines has offered special 10 percent discount on their lowest fare for the ZYNA congress and Avis is offering a special discount on its rentals for the congress, as notes the ZSO (Zoroastrian Society of Ontario) newsletter (May 2009), the FEZANA board has approved a subsidy of US $ 100 per participant (up to 200 participants) on a first come first served basis provided they are registered on or before May 15, 2009, are members of FEZANA member associations or small groups who are corresponding members with FEZANA. Subsidies are also restricted to participants aged between 15-30 years (on or before July 1, 2009). Participants from local associations [Zoroastrian Association of Northern California (ZANC) and Persian Zoroastrian Organisation (PZO)] will be eligible for 50 percent of subsidy, as they will not incur travel cost, notes the ZSO newsletter.
The ZSO executive committee has also decided to give an additional subsidy of CAD250 each to five youth who are members in good standing of the ZSO. If under 18 years of age, the ZSO requires that his/her parent be a member in good standing, notes the ZSO newsletter.
