“Who was Allamai?”

I write to answer the query "Who was Allamai?” (Readers’ Forum, Parsiana, January 21, 2009) posed by Zarin Mistry of Madras.

Mary Clubwalla Jadhav was the daughter of Rustom Patel and his wife Aloo Ratanji Khareghat, who must be the "Allamai” referred to. Muncherji Khareghat was from a different branch of the family and had no children.
