In top junior 100
Sixteen-year-old Kyra Shroff achieved the landmark distinction of breaking into the top 100 in the world Under-18 (junior) category at the end of 2008 by playing a series of high-ranking tournaments against bigger and better players in Japan, Indonesia, Thailand, America, Tunisia, etc. "Kyra feels that with her points gathered mainly in the latter half of 2008 she will have an opportunity to play the French, Wimbledon and US Open this year,” says her father Firdaus.

Kyra Shroff: opportunities beckon
Two weeks of training in Bangalore will now be followed by a week in Poona to give her tenth standard exams. "She is then off to the Far East for Grade One ITF tournaments, then to Europe for the clay court season, the French Open and on to England for the grass court season and Wimbledon,” Firdaus encapsulates his daughter’s hectic schedule. Fitness, speed and health are all areas to be worked upon by the young tennis player and her coaches Prahlad Srinath and Bobby Mahal as Kyra makes the transition from Juniors to the Women’s category, which will be a different ball game altogether.
