Back to square one
Parsis are in the limelight once again, albeit, for wrong reasons. Oh yes the new set of trustees have taken over, but it seems like old wine in a new bottle. Parsis now appear to be back to square one or where they were before the new dispensation took over. Oh there will be more and more legal wrangles as time goes by.
What begs the answer is, "Why is the Charity Commissioner trying for a compromise between the feuding parties? Why can’t he call a spade a spade and take action in the matter accordingly?” If the trust fund has become commercial, indulging in commercial activities instead of charity, he should de-recognize the Bombay Parsi Punchayet as a charity trust. In the name of charity, and poor and lower middle class, if the creamy layer is having a ball the Charity Commissioner should stand up and be counted.
All said and done there is no gainsaying that Parsis have got the trustees they deserve.
