The recently renovated M. J. Wadia Agiary at Lalbaug was the venue for the thanksgiving jashan of the Nowroz Baug Play Centre on the occasion of its 62nd anniversary on October 27, 2007, as per a write-up sent to Parsiana by the Play Centre’s president Nariman E. Mehta. Lalbaug based physician, Nowroz Baug resident and doctor to Central Bank of India, Dr Yazdi D. Jasoomani, accompanied by wife Amy, was chief guest at the main function held on November 3, 2007 at the Play Centre’s grounds where children provided a dance entertainment program, with sound and music provided by Cyrus Pooniwalla and party.
Intrepid motorcyclists Dara Anklesaria and Soli Cooper who had ridden their bikes from the Gateway of India in Bombay right up to China (see "Bombay, Beijing and back,” Events and Personalities, Parsiana, October 7, 2007) were felicitated at the function. Sahuraja. Ustad appreciated the support of Mehta’s Firozgar Trust for donating the cash prizes, Phiroze Daruwala for silver medals in fond memory of his late wife Siloo, Sahuraja for cash and silver medal for BCom students and Jaloo A. Jagos, sister of the late Khody P. Kolah for silver medals for children at the school leaving stage.
Complimenting the organizers for the good work done by the Play Centre, Jasoomani reminded the audience about the services rendered by Zoroastrian youths who have been cleaning fire temples and dakhmas. He enjoined those present to make use of the playground for jogging and performing their early morning exercises. Yasmin R. Engineer, joint honorary secretary thanked well-wishers for their support and encouragement to the Play Centre and presented flowers to eminent persons on the stage. This was followed by a delicious dinner catered by Tanaz R. Godiwalla which was enjoyed by 450 members and guests.
