With the setting up of the Alarm Factory India Private Limited (AFI), the Casby Group has ventured into the field of security and surveillance products. "In spite of our enormous economic expansion, the increase in our quality of life and easier availability and affordability of luxury items, we are still plagued with a cancer we are yet to amputate from our system. That cancer is the ever increasing thefts, murders, medical emergencies and terrorist attacks our country has had to fight,” says Rishad Byramjee, chief executive officer of the Bombay-based Casby Group which is into global logistics, shipping and warehousing, as well as construction and financial services.

AFI is a joint venture between Casby and The Alarm Factory Canada (AFC) which has been in the security business in many parts of North America since 1985. Their range of products includes access control systems, closed circuit television, time and attendance management, cafeteria and building management systems, fire safety, anti-burglary devices, smash and grab solutions and spy technology. AFI launched its services at the International Fire Safety Expo and International Security and Smart Cards Expo 2008 at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from August 29-31, 2008.

"Our mission is to provide seamless and real time security assistance, by way of information or action, to our customers… provide (them) certified state of the art products and services currently followed in developed markets,” states the company profile. AFI’s staff, ranging from technical, commercial and installation, are trained and certified directly by the Canadian head office which follows Underwrite Laboratories Canada standards. "At a local level, all AFI’s staff has undergone total police background checks to ensure integrity and honesty within its own organization,” the profile adds.

AFI is headquartered in Bombay and has offices in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Delhi, Goa and Poona. The company plans to expand to further locations across India as well as explore the Middle East market, states the press release.
