EVE sees all

By Farrokh Jijina · July 21, 2018
Home visitors can be viewed from anywhere in the world "and (one can) also speak to them as if you are attending the door in person,” notes a write-up on See Thru Pro Video Door Phones, a new offering from Godrej and Boyce Manufacturing Company Limited, notes Mehernosh Pithawalla, vice president and global head - marketing, sales and innovation of their security solutions division, in an email to Parsiana. The door phone priced at Rs 26,499 allows householders to speak to and hear from visitors through an app on their phone. Promoted as a product that can add value to one’s vacation and life, the product comes with a seven-inch display unit for viewing from inside the home and a video recorder to detect movements. Mountable on a table, fridge or wall, the application allows up to four individuals to have a conference call over Wi-Fi/2G/3G.

Another product, EVE (Easy Viewing Everywhere) cameras can take pictures, record footage and stream them to the owner’s smart phone from inside homes, noted Pithawalla. Night vision and high quality videos are other features, notes the company’s brochure. Three models priced between Rs 4,999 and 9,999, differentiated by the quality of video are available, he noted. "Every corner of your home is within your sight at every moment, from anywhere in the world.” The cameras can record images and videos while motion sensors can alert householders on their phones via notifications in case of an untoward movement. Certain cameras allow a 355 degree view.
According to Pithawalla, "We are hoping to bring a change in the home owners’ mindset with our products... We have designed these products keeping in mind simplicity of use.”
