Tarot reading proved to be creative, helpful, lucrative field

By Gooli Daruwalla · March 21, 2008
Ten years ago I found myself penniless, having signed in court papers giving up all my rights to each and every thing I possessed in my marital home. I then moved to a tiny apartment in Ahmedabad. There was no food, no clothes, nothing except a broken, old divan. I was in a quandary. How would we live? What should I do? I visited several schools and job offers poured in. But I had a young, beautiful, talented daughter with me. Where would I leave her? Who would look after her? It was March and until June no institute would accept her as a boarder. I decided I would not take up a job.
It was at this juncture that a neighbor walked in. "Will you please do a Tarot reading for me? My son has had a very bad accident and suffered a head injury. Will he survive? Will he be normal?” I did as she requested and that was the first Rs 50 I earned. As soon as the neighbor left we rushed to a bhajiawalla and ate bread and bhajias to end our hunger pangs. It was our first meal in two days.

Self-taught Tarot reader Gooli Daruwalla

Soon it was Jamshedi Navroz. We had come to the apartment on March 18. We could not even afford the bus fare to reach the Parsi agiary and offer thanksgiving prayers to the Almighty and enjoy a free dinner. How we longed to have loved ones to meet and eat a proper meal with. But at the same time we were grateful for our new life, for the fact that we were alive and kicking. We had our precious freedom after a long period of adversity. A new dawn was beginning.
Through word of mouth publicity other clients arrived after they heard about my correct reading in my neighbor’s case. Her son had recovered completely. I used to climb six flights of stairs in order to receive a telephone call. I was exhausted climbing up and down the whole day, but grateful for my satisfying, creative work. There was not enough money for a telephone which was then being sold in the black market for Rs 3,000. Our sitting room with its broken divan served as our office. We used to sleep there at night.
With the Rs 50 that I first earned I went to the city, changing three buses, to buy a cheap, secondhand stove. We did not know how to travel by bus, being so accustomed to using the best of cars. We were jostled and pushed out. It took hours to reach the city. Tired, exhausted, hungry, we managed to purchase a secondhand stove and brought it home, along with a small utensil in which to cook, happy that we would at last be able to prepare a decent meal. Even gas cylinders were sold in black for Rs 3,000 and one could consider oneself lucky to obtain one.
My knowledge of Tarot reading comes from my own research for the last 20 years. Practically no investment was made as I had no money even for a table, telephone or new Tarot cards. There were no club memberships, no advertisements, or money for transport to meet editors. No special qualifications were required because I trained myself. There was nobody to teach Tarot, there was no bookshop where we could buy Tarot books. Today I teach Tarot and Indian astrology, Western astrology, kebala, coins, numerology and magic Tarot in just one month’s time. I am a trained psychologist from M. S. University in Baroda, and an interior decorator. This has helped me tremendously in understanding, sympathizing with, helping and guiding clients in both astrology and with Tarot. I provide clients with guidance about which colors to use to create a lucky, peaceful home and resolve problems. I have decorated many homes as per the principles of astrology.
I value the support and guidance I receive from my beloved God. I am grateful to the media and my very own caring clients who have become the best of friends. I am especially grateful to Byram and Goshpi Avari and their loving family who have always been there for me, come rain or sun. Politicians, mayors, ministers who have consulted me are helpful.
I would not only advise but help everybody to join this creative, helpful, lucrative profession for it provides one with a sense of inner satisfaction and helps one to make good friends. In this profession you are your own boss. There is no sexual exploitation and you can adjust your time so that you can attend to household tasks. Neither in-laws nor husband can object to a wife doing Tarot readings in the house. Tarot reading is a viable long-term career opportunity for everybody, and certainly for the younger generation which is blessed with everything readymade: books, Tarot cards and astrological channels. Now there are greater opportunities as more people have come to know about Tarot and there are classes where it can be learned. We were the pioneers; they are the future.
Some day I would like to establish a college for teaching Tarot in India, buying land and building on it. It could also provide a home where the physically and mentally challenged, slow learners, polio victims and any person who needs guidance, love and care can learn Tarot.
My Zoroastrian upbringing has been a blessing. I have always been pure in thoughts, words and deeds. I have never earned a single penny from breaking up a marriage, helping a mistress to drive out a wife, helping a husband to have countless mistresses, a mother-in-law to burn a daughter-in-law. Instead of earning crores of rupees I have always used my knowledge for the correct diagnosis of illness and helped many a mother to have a child, to patch up a broken marriage, to see that a client succeeds in education, profession and married life.
As a Tarot teacher, seer, astrologer, kebala practitioner and numerological expert I reveal what is in store for people starting Jamshedi Navroz 2008 to 2009. Navroz mubarak, health, wealth, happiness and peace of mind to all.
