Information on elections

One of the most important contributions Parsiana can make to the future of the Parsi community in Bombay is to urgently publish information and guidance.

What is the first date and the last date for registering as a voter?

What are the qualifications to be an eligible voter?

Where do we register?

When are the elections?

When will the list of candidates be finalized? And announced?

What are the qualifications required to stand for election?

These and many more questions need to be addressed. Early.

The dates for the elections for seven trustees of the Bombay Parsi Punchayet are still to be announced as legal disputes have arisen over the holding of elections under universal adult franchise. The process may be prolonged in the courts. Readers may turn to the article "Wait and watch” on page 17 for the current status of the legal position and also for other details regarding who is qualified to vote and to contest for trusteeship.
