Representing Rotary

With 532 Rotary districts around the world, it is physically impossible for the world president of Rotary International to be present at all of them. Which is why he selects Rotarians with a good track record as past district governors with their Ann to represent him at the annual district conferences, writes Daraius Marshall of Calicut. Marshall was invited to do the honors at the Rotary district conference in Bandung, Indonesia, in May 2007. He and his wife Katy left for Bandung via Kuala Lumpur on April 30, 2007.

Daraius Marshall: leading the way

Marshall was required to make three speeches, one on May 4, 2007 with special emphasis on the world president’s theme "Lead the way and serve with love,” covering world affairs in the Rotary movement and motivating Rotarians to higher levels of service with stress on growth and increase in membership. His second speech, on the following day, was on "Rotary Foundation,” the world’s largest charitable institution owned by Rotary International. Marshall highlighted the need for Rotarians to donate money to the Foundation, money which is then utilized for humanitarian projects all over the world, such as the Pulse Polio program. Marshall’s last speech comprised his concluding remarks on the conference, he informed Parsiana.
