Invitation to Vesu

On April 19, 2007 a small congregation of Zoroastrians from the village of Vesu in Gujarat got together to celebrate the 119th anniversary of the adarian saheb in their village. It was a proud day for the villagers, now considerably aged, as they enjoyed the company of their families and friends scattered in and around the city of Surat.
A jashan was performed by resident mobed Ervad Nariman P. Karanjia and his son, Ervad Minoo. About 40 persons joined in the humbandagi led by Ervad Nariman. A Titan watch and monetary gifts were presented to him on behalf of the trustees and well-wishers.
The village of Vesu is fast turning into an extension of Surat. Members of the tiny resident Zoroastrian community, who had for many long years toiled hard to till their farmlands, are now being rewarded in the form of high prices for their properties.
The Vesuna families, deriving their names from the village, hold the sacred adarian fire to be their spiritual mentor and guide. In the last few years they have spared both money and effort to keep the sacred fire burning.
As managing trustee of the trust fund responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of this adarian, I appeal to all fellow Zoroastrians around the world to visit this little village whenever they come to Surat as it will be a very rewarding experience spiritually.
