“God willing”
At the meeting of the Federation of Parsi Zoroastrian Anjumans of India held in Ahmedabad on December 18 and 19, 2004, a furore was created when the then Madras Anjuman president Nariman Mogrelia uttered the word "Inshallah” meaning "God willing” ("World body stymied,” Parsiana, January 2005).
The Latin word for "God willing” is "Deo Volente” and the French equivalent is "S’il plait Dieu.” One wonders if objections would have been raised if Mogrelia had uttered the Latin or the French equivalent of "Inshallah.”
